Paris, je t’aime

Apologies for being inactive recently. It’s been busy at work and I got engaged some weeks ago so it’s been all go go go recently.

Myself & herself went to Paris some weeks ago for a quick break. We stayed at the Flor Rivoli hotel. It’s really basic and the rooms are pokey but you can’t beat the price or the location. We’re the kind of couple who only want a bed to sleep in so there’s no point in paying for anything fancy. The hotel is right outside the Chatelet metro stop (main metro hub in Paris). It’s about two minutes from the Louvre and ten from Notre Dame. Rue Saint Denis is a major nightlife spot and it’s only a few streets away and Rue De Rivoli is one of the main shopping streets in Paris if that’s your thing.

I’ve been to Paris loads of times and we’ve been there together once so we weren’t in a complete rush to see all the sights. We did want to take the cruise on the Seine and having done it by night, I strongly recommend it as a great way to see the city.

We finally got to get up the Eifel tower and that’s where I popped the question. It was cold, dark and windy. Our eyes were streaming from the wind and herself thought I was pulling her leg so it wasn’t quite the classical movie-trip engagement but the giddy excitement of the two of us after will stay with me forever.
